Interactive Map Helper

 

Using the map:

To navigate around the map, click and drag your mouse. To zoom, use the scroll wheel of your mouse or the zoom buttons on the top left. To re-center the map, click the “Home” button on the top left.

 

Viewing layers:

To view data layers, select from the menu on the left-hand side of the map. To view descriptions of the layers, click on the expand arrow next to the name of the layer. You can also change the opacity of a layer’s icons here. To hide the layers menu, click the “Legend” button at the top-left corner of the map.

 

Clicking on icons, lines, and shapes on the map will open pop-up boxes with more information on the layer selected.

 

Map functions:

To search for a maritime feature or incident, use the magnifying-glass “Find” button underneath the zoom buttons. To print the map, click the “Print” button at the top-right corner of the map. Clicking on the “Measure” button will bring up three tools, for measuring area and distance, and for finding the geographic coordinates of a location. Click the “Basemaps” button to switch between basemap options.
